My little condo kitchen reno is finally complete! I have no idea why I waited so long to tackle this project. My space feels so much more open now, and cooking & cleaning have been way more enjoyable. I’ll share a few before & after photos and I’ll put all the details and links below.
Kitchen Cabinet Doors
BEFORE
AFTER
First let’s talk about the meat of the reno which are the beautiful cabinet doors. I am so happy with the quality of them! I sourced these from Allstyle Retrofit. If you’re keeping your original layout and want to transform your space with custom doors, I highly recommend refacing your cabinets with them. They are also experts in IKEA Retrofit projects which will give your IKEA kitchen an elevated look without the blowing the budget.
BEFORE
AFTER
Allstyle Retrofit has a variety of styles to choose from and you can choose any Benjamin Moore colour as well. They introduced me to the skinny shaker doors which are super trending lately, so I decided to go for it! Something different and I feel like it gives my space a modern twist on a traditional style. I went with Benjamin Moore’s Simply White because I wanted to add a little more warmth to my space, since I do not get direct sunlight in my kitchen. Simply White has a yellow undertone and depending on what kind of light you have in your kitchen, it can look VERY yellow, so just make sure you always sample colours and pick a white that works best for your space.
I also added the soft-close hinges and upgrade the drawer boxes to the Maple Dovetail drawers and oh my, what a difference! The quality of the boxes are top notch and I know will last much long than the old builder grade drawers. It definitely isn’t a necessary purchase, but if it does fit in your budget, I highly recommend!
Backsplash
For the backsplash I went with a classic Zellige white tile. These tiles I feel will never go out of style with their charming authentic Moroccan look. You can get them glazed, unglazed, square or in a subway tile. I went with square just to change it up from my previous rectangular shape backsplash. I ordered mine from Factory Tile Depot. There are multiple locations around the GTA. They did take a while to get delivered so keep that in mind if you’re on a tight schedule.
For grout I went with “Bright White”, which I also purchased at Factory Tile Depot.
Hardware
I’ve always wanted gold hardware and I finally made it happen in this project. I wanted something not too shiny and not too yellow so I went with a Champaign bronze colour. The colour in these pulls and knobs are exactly what I wanted. (Linked below)

Countertop
For the countertops I went with a quartz marble with very subtle veins. Megna Counter Tops helped me make a quick decision and I chose MSI Calcutta Botanica. I absolutely love it! I also chose to do a cool waterfall feature on the end of the peninsula.
Faucet
Before
After
I decided to keep it simple & clean and went with a gold kitchen faucet too. I came across this one from Canadian Tire and it was on sale for under $200… totally scored on that one! Bought it right away without even shopping around and it fits in quite nicely and I managed to save a bit since I splurged in other areas. Here’s the link to the facuet: Danze Colby 1-Handle Pull Down Kitchen Faucet, Colour: Brushed bronze. (I didn’t use the optional deck plate that it comes with)
Sink
The sink is by Kraus and I bought it from Home Depot: Kraus Workstation 30 Granite Single Bowl Sink in White with Accessories
I love the single bowl and the accessories that come with it (drying rack & cutting board), but I do have to say it is so hard to keep clean because it’s made of granite composite and of course it being white doesn’t help. In retrospect, I may have reconsidered the white granite sink and gone with a stainless steel or ceramic option instead. Besides that, I do really love it! In terms of going single or double bowl is really up to how you utilize your sink on a daily basis. I use the dishwasher for almost everything. I like to handwash big pots and pans, so having one big large bowl is super helpful and makes washing way easier for me!
Stove
My initial plan was to keep all my existing appliances to keep the budget as tight as possible, but my old stove was a complete eye sore for me and took away from the beautiful new backsplash. I started to look into stoves and found this LG free standing slide in electric range for a great price. It’s not anything over-the-top extravagant, but was a huge upgrade from what I had. I’m so happy I decided to make the upgrade! I’ve been using it for a few months now and have no complaints. If you’re looking for a good stove at an affordable price, I highly recommend checking this one out. Now I have my eye on switching out my microwave. lol! Maybe in the near future….
Lighting
The last thing you may have noticed that’s new are the pot lights. I was so pumped to get rid of my old track light! As much as I love pendant lighting, my space is small, so I decided to go with pot lights to keep the space open. They are 4K and on dimmer switches. I also added LED under cabinet lighting which I love for in the evening ambiance.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour of my new kitchen! Doing a full kitchen reno seemed daunting, but refacing is such a quick and easy way to transform your kitchen. I highly recommend it!
