Pre-quarantine, one of my favourite things was looking forward to the weekend where I would meet up with friends for dinner and cocktails. I decided to keep the tradition going by embracing my inner mixologist and create a different cocktail every weekend! Now my virtual dates are much more complete 😉
One of my favourite cocktails I’ve made so far were these Watermelon Margaritas. They are the perfect combination of sweet, salty and spicy, and make the best spring/summer backyard drink. I thought I’d hop on here and share the recipe with you because they turned out delicious…. so delicious, that I made them three nights in a row! Whoops!
HERE’S THE RECIPE…
(Makes 2 servings)
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of blended fresh watermelon juice
- 4 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 cup of silver tequila
- 1 teaspoon agave nectar
- Handful of ice cubes
- Thin slices of jalapeño slices
- Coarse sea salt (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Rim glasses with salt by using a lime wedge.
- Pre-make watermelon juice by pureeing seedless fresh watermelon slices in a blender.
- Pour 1 cup of the fresh watermelon juice, lime juice and ice cubes into a blender and blend until smooth
- In a shaker add your blended juice, tequila, and agave nectar
- Shake and pour into glasses
- Add jalapeños on top or for extra spicy, gently press jalapeños against the side of the glass to release flavours. Garnish with lime slices
- Enjoy!
