WATERMELON MARGARITAS

Pre-quarantine, one of my favourite things was looking forward to the weekend where I would meet up with friends for dinner and cocktails. I decided to keep the tradition going by embracing my inner mixologist and create a different cocktail every weekend! Now my virtual dates are much more complete 😉

One of my favourite cocktails I’ve made so far were these Watermelon Margaritas. They are the perfect combination of sweet, salty and spicy, and make the best spring/summer backyard drink. I thought I’d hop on here and share the recipe with you because they turned out delicious…. so delicious, that I made them three nights in a row! Whoops!

HERE’S THE RECIPE…

(Makes 2 servings)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of blended fresh watermelon juice
  • 4 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup of silver tequila
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • Handful of ice cubes
  • Thin slices of jalapeño slices
  • Coarse sea salt (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Rim glasses with salt by using a lime wedge.
  2. Pre-make watermelon juice by pureeing seedless fresh watermelon slices in a blender.
  3. Pour 1 cup of the fresh watermelon juice, lime juice and ice cubes into a blender and blend until smooth
  4. In a shaker add your blended juice, tequila, and agave nectar
  5. Shake and pour into glasses
  6. Add jalapeños on top or for extra spicy, gently press jalapeños against the side of the glass to release flavours. Garnish with lime slices
  7. Enjoy!
